Aging Infertility in Men and Women

Aging Infertility in Men and Women

Fertility, the natural capability of creating life decreases as men and women age though it does not imply that men and women become absolutely sterile. There have been instances where a 90 year old man has been able to father a child by natural means and similarly women well past their middle ages are giving birth to healthy babies. Also with sophisticated medical treatment and a balanced diet older men and women have found it easier to conceive and deliver healthy babies.

Aging males and gene mutation

As men age, in general they experience erectile dysfunction, reduction in the volume, concentration, count and motility of the sperm. The American Society for Reproductive Medicine has suggested that the age limit for sperm donors should be under-40 as the quality of sperm decreases with age. However this age limit is not based on scientific evidence as the effect of aging on fertility in men is still not conclusively proved.

Men continue to produce sperm all their life. But the fact remains that aging does affect the quality of the sperm. A research done in 2006 found that low sperm motility was affected by DNA fragmentation which increased with age. Therefore older men were most likely to pass on any mutation in the genes to their progenies. The Aging Male Syndrome is characterized by a number of symptoms like loss of libido, decrease in the levels of the male hormone testosterone, erectile dysfunction, and other physical symptoms like bone loss, hair loss, weight gain, memory problems, muscle loss, low stamina and increased urination.

Older women and fertility

Infertility is more pronounced in women than in men. Fertility in women starts declining even years before menopause sets in. Research on the incidence of pregnancy in various age groups has shown that the rate of infertility is higher in older women. Women are born with all the eggs they will have in a lifetime. As women age, the eggs in the ovaries also age making it more difficult to conceive and increasing the risk of miscarriage and chromosomal abnormalities. Also older women are more likely to develop age related diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart conditions and gynecological problems like fibroids, endometriosis and menopause. These may result in poor quality of eggs, weight gain and disturbances in the estrogen metabolism. Although these conditions may affect a woman’s ability to conceive, current emerging technologies make it possible for older women to successfully deliver a healthy baby.

Staying healthy by remaining active and following a balanced diet, as well as reducing stress and negativity are still keys to increasing the likelihood of conception, for both men and women. It is important to seek medical advice and treatment for any conditions or problems to increase chances of conception.

Sadly, the special needs children aren't adopted with the same fervor that infants are. They are the ones who "need" the homes the most. These special needs children are in for a hard life as it is, but it is made harder when they are in a system where they are not going to receive the love and care that they need to thrive. Many of them, with proper care and education, are able to achieve things that no one thought possible. If you want to help a child, these are the children who need it most.
Many children who are born "healthy" can end up disabled also. This is just the risk you accept when you become a parent. There is no guarantee. I cannot tell you how sad I am when I hear that some one wants to take on a child, but not "that kind". You are too worried about your own hangups, and not offering the love that a child truly needs.
That being said, if you don't think you can take on these types of children, please don't. Children will know that you are fearful of them or put off by them.
As an adopted person, I find it very sad that had I been born with one less limb, one blind eye, ears that didn't work properly, or a mental condition that made learning hard, I wouldn't have had parents. I would have been sitting in a group home setting, not being kissed, not being hugged, not being loved… simply because I wasn't the perfect blessing someone had been hoping for. Imagine these children, you could be their last hope.

YES IT IS TRUE BUT MEN ARE DISHONEST TO FULFILL THE NEED TO GENERATE NEW GENERATION SO THEY FULFILL THEIR NEEDS BY DOING THESE TYPE OF THINGS THEY WANT ENJOYMENT BUT NOT BURDEN ON THEIR HEADS IN FUTURE YOU SAY IT WRONG OR RIGHT BY TAKING ADVANTAGE OF HOLY BOOKS OR TESTAMENTS OR ANY OTHER THING BUT IT IS TRUE

This is simply not the kind of question you want to research using an internet-based survey.

A study was recently published that showed a link between paternal age and autism. The CDC and drug companies cannot suppress research done by trained scientists in a university setting, so if there's a correlation here, it will be reported. You just have to know where to look.

This study got quite a bit of attention several weeks ago on news outlets such as NPR.

You lost me at "Does it show…"

All your reasons might be dandy but who has 3 hours to read your question?

Do you *honestly* expect anyone to read your entire semester research paper?

Also, when you typed in "why do married people — affair" – Yahoo showed you about 7,500 questions EXACTLY LIKE yours.

Why didn't you go back and read those?
Why is your version of this threadbare question so special?

Well, I would say most of the above is true for your "gentle breast caress" or "playful hair tug".

And if some bastard is trying to RAPE me, I'm supposed to worry about HIS sexual dignity and core regenerative being?

Don't start-that's what my momma always said, and it's good advice for you as well.

Well, I couldn't resist answering, but I didn't have time to read your book. Basically, I assume you are saying you are pro life. That's good.
It disgusts me when I hear people say that "it's my body and I have a right to do what I want to it." Well, you're right! Do whatever you want to your body – tattoos, multiple piercings, unprotected sex, suicide, etc – nobody cares. But you have absolutely no right to kill another human who happens to be living inside your body. That's murder. Let's say I'm walking down the street and someone decides to hitch a ride on my back. That doesn't give me the right to kill the person. The baby is not 'yours'. You are simply a vehicle for bringing a person into the world.
If we are to allow killing of babies (abortion) we should allow killing of old people if they are no longer wanted or 'inconvenient', ugly people if we don't care to look at them, fat people because they put a burden on our health care system, ethnic people if they are different from us, etc, etc. Babies get killed because they have no voice and many 'modern' people want a simple fix for all their 'problems'. What a pity.

well girls should be told its wrong to kick a guy in the groin for fun. but in a really threatening situation, i don't think its wrong at all, for the whole reason "it causes such extreme pain that a guy can only see stars & feels paralyzed & nauseous" that would give the woman (or man) a chance to escape from their attacker. And shin kicks don't always hurt. I've been kicked in the shin pretty hard, and haven't felt anything, if anything the person who kicked me was hurt more. So you can't really rely on shin kicks to be as effective as being kicked in the groin.

and what about when a guy rapes a girl, isn't that a "vicious & malicious misuse" of his body against her body and is also an "assault upon [her] sexual dignity &… core regenerative being?" so she should be able to return the favour with a sharp kick to protect herself. :)

I think that's really good for an essay.
If you wrote it, you did a good job. :)
