Dental Implant Problems

By admin
Dental Implant Problems

Dental implants are procedures carried out to restore teeth and still be able to show a nice smile without the impression of having the traditional dentures. With today’s technology, dental implant problems are less frequent and they have a success rate of 98%.

Dental implant problems include procedures to allow the dental implants to correctly bond to a person’s jaw bone. This is also technically referred to as osseointegrating with the jaw bone.

When the implant is not able to osseointegrate correctly, there are dental implant problems that you need to handle. These include the following specific concerns.

1. Dental implant infection

This can be caused by the patient’s poor oral hygiene and it happens during the dental implant process. The infection results into bone inflammation within the implant area. This is a major problem since it is the primary cause for the rejection of dental implants.

2. Problem with the sufficiency of bone mass

When the jaw bone volume is not sufficient, the dental implant may not bond properly. When this dental implant problem is seen, a scenario of bone graft becomes an option during the surgery. This will lead to a lower incidence of complications.

3.   Patient’s general health condition

Patients who are in great shape will end up with a high rate of success in the dental implant process. However, those who are suffering from chronic illnesses like diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer may have dental implant problems. The bone growth is highly dependent on the blood supply and poor health condition can result into a more challenging procedure.

4. Loading the implants immediately

This can force the tooth to disturb the critical osseointegration process. It is important not to load the dental implants immediately to ensure that pressure is not applied to the implant.

The above are the common dental implant problems. When any of the above happens, the immediate thing that a dentist does is to wait for a certain time for the area to heal and redo the surgery when it is ready.

It is important to note that smoking can also cause problems in the process. If you want to go through the process, it is important to prepare yourself and ensure that you are in great health for a high success rate of the dental implant procedure.

Question and Answer

Where can i find cheap dental work in Southern California?
I'm under the age of 18 and my parents have horrible dental insurance. Their dental insurance covers less than 10%. I need to find a place that has rather cheap dental work, but not at a dental school. (I need a lot of work done). Thanks.

I have dental implants and I agree you might have food stuck around the implant. Have you tried flossing the area? You also could just have a canker sore too. You need to get to the doctor. Does it hurt to bite down? Sometimes I have irritated my gums and it isn't the implant at all but something I did. I rinsed with salt water or peroxide solution and it healed. When is the last time you had a cleaning? You need to do this every 6 months. I also use a waterpik do you?

Do get to the dentist soon though. It might not be a big deal.

I would recommend going back to see who did your surgery. Your gums sound like they are inflamed. I would continue with brushing and flossing as you normally do. Your dentist may consider placing you on a rinse called Peridex to help with the inflamed tissue. If you are unable to take the time to go to the dentist that you started with, you may also see a dentist that is closer to you, but i am sure there will be a charge along with it. I know implants are very costly but if you spent $3000 on it already isn't it worth to have it checked to make sure that everything is ok rather than taking a risk and losing your implant?

It sounds like you (and your dentist) have already made up your minds about this tooth…

Since the root canal treatment has been started, after it's healed a core or post & core will be placed, along with a temporary crown. Teeth become brittle after root canal treatment, so it's common and advised to have a crown placed over it for additional support. Once the impession has been taken for the permanent crown, you should have it inserted within three weeks, since it has to go to a lab to be made.

If you opted to extract the tooth, an implant would have been one of your options, provided you are a candidate for one. The other option would be a permanent bridge.

Implants are not covered by insurance companies, and are rather pricey. (You didn't say if you had insurance or not, so I thought I'd add this in). It also takes longer to have an implant, since you have to wait 4-6 months to see if your body accepts or rejects it… then the healing cap gets removed, the implant placed, and the impression for the crown.

Good luck to you!

:)

Its sounds like your in good hands with your OS. They tend to stay a little irritated at first but it goes away.

If the hole is towards where the root used to be it as called a dehiscense. This is NOT a good sign. The implant is not surrounded by bone on that surface and the implant is now exposed to all of the bacteria in the mouth. Getting it covered is very important and do it ASAP. Grafting here in MA will run ~$800. Periodontists, gum surgeons, are better at this than oral surgeons.

We can rebuild him.
We can make him stronger. Faster than before.

Not the facial nerve. The inferior alveolar nerve. Yes seek a specialist who can order or take special films called tomagraphs. Generally they can be placed without a problem. Placement in the very back can be tricky due to how wide you can open.

Hi
success rates today of dental implants are very high – around 98%. Yet in some cases there might be some complications – especially when the implant is imediately loaded ( the crown is built on the implant) and the the new tooth is put into use.
Traditionally dentists prefer to place the implant and only a few months after that build the crown on top of it.
The crown should'nt have fallen out – that doesn't sound right!!
Your dentist might decied to go a step back and remove only the crown and let the site heal for a few months and then build the crown again.

On average, dental implants cost approximately $1,500 to $3,500 per tooth replacement. Additional services for dental implants, such as preparing the jaw bone if needed, can raise the total cost to around $15,000 to $30,000. These cost may vary significantly depending on the type of implant required and the dental health professionals performing the implant procedures. Many providers offer discounts for patients receiving more than one dental implant at a time.

Patients may want to consider how the cost of dental implants compares to the cost of other treatments such as dentures and bridges, as well as the benefits and drawbacks of each procedure. Unlike dental implants, insurance will often cover 50 percent or more of the cost of dental bridges and dentures. A single bridge generally costs about $500 to $900. Patients who need crowns to attach the bridge to may need to spend an additional $600 to $1,200 per tooth. Dentures range in price from about $500 to $1,500 for each upper or lower set. However, bridges and dentures may cost more money to maintain, repair or replace over the long term than dental implants, which are generally permanent.

what happened to step 7? …and how did step 8 start? just asking!!

Maybe the bite is off for the reason your having difficulty. When I first got my implants I had to practice speaking. I read a book out loud which really made a difference. It is all about how you put your tongue and lips.
