Question and Answer

How would Universal Healthcare impact the advacement of medicine?
I think that unversal healthcare would be detrimental to the advancement of human medicine. Drug companies would tirelessly to develop a breakthrough drug or a cure for a disease because they know it would be a huge payout. Would they have such a large incentive if the government would be paying them?

Also, I heard that universal healthcare would result in everyone getting healthcare, but it would involve long lines. Everyone would get treated for cancer and not worry about the bill but they would have to wait 6 months for treatment.

What are your thoughts?

usually independent study groups.
some hospitals poll patients when they leave hospital
regarding their experience.

you can work in housekeeping, dietary or as a CNA if you are licensed(you must be at least 16 to become a certified nurse aide). there are also jobs in the gift shop, rentals and usually in the administrative offices. there are a lot of jobs in a hospital that do not require a medical license.

yes, some do :)
you just have to ask around, some have sponsorships as well as assistance. i know nothing about tax consequences, but i do know some hospitals do help out with the schooling expenses, one of my sisters did it for a while, but she also worked for the hospital.

I worked at a large hospital in Texas and we rarely had people dying daily. Most of the ones that died were older people with terminal diseases. There were many weekends that there were no deaths in the ER.

Johnny Depp reminds me so much of John Barrymore.

the nearest one probably which is usually the one the 911 Receiver calls

YOu would have to prove the hospital was negligent in causing the infection. If the hospital can show that, despite taking every precaution to prevent infection your grandma got an infection anyways, then you don't really have a case. Any time there is a surgical site infection, the hospital is obligated to do an investigation, but that doesn't mean they did anything wrong. And that doesn't mean you can't try to sue. Talk to a medical malpractice attorney…most will give a free consultation. If they don't take your case, then it's likely that you don't have anything worth suing over.

I actually couldn't find a law directly on point skimming over TX statutes. The underlying issue seems to be why the bill was not delivered in a timely manner.

For example, the process may be different if the hospital issued a bill on day 45, but it was never received, versus if the hospital sent the first bill on day 100 (not common in the industry I assure you). Assuming the hospital is familiar with your insurer and their policies, they should have handled the matter.

What you probably need to do next is get a full accounting from the hospital as to what invoices were sent to whom when. Based on that, its possible this may end up in court, where you and/or your insurer sue the hospital.

Other thoughts? How far past the 95 day limit were they? If only a few days, I would consider appealing the insurers decision, especially if you have proof external factors delayed the bill.

Defiantly, I was considering going into physical therapy and that’s what they suggested. It gets you used to the environment because nothing else really compares to it.

17

Man, you’re good at that.

I like your subject matter, too. :)

I can write music til the cows come home but I always tell people that I can’t “draw water”. haha.

Thanks for the invite. Rare treat.

I was taken by ambulance to the closest hospital and taken through the ER. I was sent to the psych ward where they took everything but my clothing. I saw a psychiatrist who decided I needed to stay for awhile and I was left in a small room for 12 hours crying. After the 12 hours, I was moved to a room with 3 other people and given what I believe was Trazodone and Benadryl to sleep. A blood test was forced on me and I was told if I didn't comply, I would be strapped down.

I was told they could keep me for up to 72 hours but luckily I was released in 36 hours because I was well behaved.
