100 Life Saving Health Food Tips
Posted by: | Comments
With the new year approaching, the first resolution most people think about going for is a gym membership. Year after year the same thing happens. They really want to get into shape, and they know for sure that this year will be different. They sign up for a year membership and start their new goal with clear focus and determination.
Most people never make it past the first week. Why? Mostly because they quit when they realize how much work goes into getting back into the shape they once had. The fact of the matter is that it really is not as difficult as they think. They are just focusing on one aspect of overall wellness and burning themselves out on it.
In order to lose weight and keep it off for good, a person must develop the mindset necessary for living a healthy lifestyle. There is much more to being healthy than showing up to the gym every day. In fact, exercise is only one-eighth of the total equation. If you really want to achieve personal wellness in 2009, forget the gym and focus instead on improving the following 8 categories of health.
Health Tips #1: Diet & Nutrition
You already know the main reason you gained weight. Too many trips through the McDonalds drive-thru, late night snacking on junk food and poor dinner choices. You do not have to eat a diet of bland salads and yogurt, but you do need to limit the amount of trigger foods that you caused your weight gain. Replace your current American diet of high sugar, high-fat processed foods with those found in the produce and lean meat department as often as you can.
Health Tips #2: Nutritional Supplements
Now that our soils are more depleted of minerals than ever, and our farm animals are not fed properly, living a healthy lifestyle requires nutritional supplementation. I lost 70 pounds in 4 months and kept it off for over 15 years simply by drinking a soy-based protein shake for breakfast every morning and taking a few targeted vitamins. Why does this work? Because greasy bacon and runny eggs do not provide proper nutrition.
Health Tips #3: Fun & Recreation
What makes you happy? Going to the movies? Ice Skating? Playing the guitar? Whatever it is, you must find time for it on a weekly basis (if not daily) in order to maintain good mental stability. Your activities and hobbies should not include junk food or alcohol. Going to the movies is watching the movie, not eating a tub of fatty buttered popcorn. Be happy with what you are doing without the unnecessary evils.
Health Tips #4: Hydration
Drinking enough water throughout the day is the part of the equation that gets overlooked. People do not consider drinking as important as eating and it is! You should not be drinking soda or processed juices every day. Why? Because they deplete your body of vitamins and minerals while loading you up on sugar. Alcohol is even worse. Do yourself a favor and keep a water bottle with you at all times. Drink, drink, drink. I cannot stress this enough.
Health Tips #5: Stress
And speaking of stress, this is what happens when you do not allow yourself to have any fun in your life. This is just as important to living a healthy lifestyle as eating and drinking properly. Too much stress can cause major problems for your body. You only live once, so do not allow other people and events to get you so bothered and worried that you cannot live the lifestyle you deserve for yourself.
Health Tips #6: Unhealthy Habits
Not eating the wrong foods is just as important as eating the right foods. But unhealthy habits are not just about food, are they? Smoking and the use of other drugs, prescription or not, is probably the worst thing a person can do to their body. This is the only one you have! Take care of it. Alcohol is OK on occasion but not recommended on a daily basis to anyone interested in living a healthy lifestyle.
Health Tips #7: Weight Management
Have you ever noticed that weight loss really is not the issue that people struggle with? Most everyone has lost weight at one point in their life. Keeping that weight off is the obstacle that most people can not overcome. Think about it logically. If you gained weight by eating twinkies, then lost weight when you stopped eating twinkies, do not go back to eating twinkies. The person who eats twinkies on occasion (not every day) does not struggle with weight fluctuation.
Health Tips #8: Exercise
You knew this one was coming! It is totally possible to lose weight without exercising. I am living proof because my severe asthma prohibited me from doing it. The reason I can exercise now is because I got my body healthy through focusing on the other 7 categories. Once I began exercising, it only accelerated my weight loss and now helps to keep me lean. The key to exercise is not quantity but quality. A little bit every day will give you the best health benefits overall.
So there you have it! The 8 health tips to kick off the new year for a new you. Focus on improving each of these simultaneously as your one and only New Years Resolution and you will be on a successful path to overall wellness. Weight loss and poor health can be things of the past if you are just willing to make small changes on a daily basis.

1. They could not follow the program.
2. They lost some weight but could not maintain it.
These two problems are the biggest ones that most people face but this does not mean that they are the only ones. Both of these problems are related to the human mind and not human body. Your exercise plan or diet has got nothing to do with the failure. The main cause of this failure is the mind state of a human being; he is expected to follow the program with consistency which for some people is not possible. Another reason for this failure is the conflict between a person’s unconscious and conscious state of mind. These two are the reasons due to which a person fails to lose his or her weight. If you are not prepared then nothing can help you get the required results.
The only solution to this problem is to change the entire life style of a person. This will help his sub-conscious mind to accept it and he will be able to follow the plan with more consistency. This shift will solve all the problems and the person will adapt to the new settings. Now this will be more of an adopted life style than a forced on. Now the person will follow the whole diet and exercise program without any trouble. There are numerous advance mind trainings that can help you achieve this state of mind, magically slim being one of them. With the required mind state in place a person will easily follow all the weight loss programs and will be able to maintain it for a long period of time.
With the mind state in place you will need to find yourself a good diet and exercise plan. You can only lose your weight if you are able to burn more calories than you take in. For this reason you need to have a good diet plan. You can ask a doctor to tell you about healthy foods with low calories or you can ask your friends who are already following a plan. You can also use the internet yourself and then evaluate the food items. This way you can eat what you want and you will know how much calories it contains. With your diet plan in place it’s time to get yourself a good exercise plan. You can go for some basic exercises or advanced exercise but this depends on your level of experience. You can buy the necessary equipment or join a gym for this reason. You also have another option! If you don’t want to follow exercises then you can go out for walking, cycling, swimming or running. They don’t require any specialized equipment so they are much easier to adopt.

Forerunners healthcare is assisting international patients suffering from spleen problems and are wishing to have splenectomy but they can’t afford expensive surgery in their own native country and also because of the waiting list. Forerunners healthcare facilitate the international patients for undergoing their splenectomy conveniently without any compromise with their health. Splenectomy is the surgical removal of the spleen. The spleen is an organ located in the upper left part of the abdomen beneath the ribs and behind the stomach. The spleen filters blood to remove bacteria, parasites, and other organisms that can cause infection.
Splenectomy is the surgical removal of the spleen, which is an organ that is part of the lymphatic system. The spleen is a dark-purple, bean-shaped organ located in the upper left side of the abdomen, just behind the bottom of the rib cage. In adults, the spleen is about 4.8 X 2.8 X 1.6 in (12 X 7 X 4 cm) in size, and weighs about 4-5 oz (113-14 zg). Its functions include a role in the immune system; filtering foreign substances from the blood; removing worn-out blood cells from the blood; regulating blood flow to the liver; and sometimes storing blood cells. The storage of blood cells is called sequestration. In healthy adults, about 30% of blood platelets are sequestered in the spleen.
There are two diseases for which splenectomy is the only treatment-primary cancers of the spleen and a blood disorder called hereditary spherocytosis (HS). In HS, the absence of a specific protein in the red blood cell membrane leads to the formation of relatively fragile cells that are easily damaged when they pass through the spleen. The cell destruction does not occur elsewhere in the body and ends when the spleen is removed. HS can appear at any age, even in newborns, although doctors prefer to put off removing the spleen until the child is five or six years old.
Risks
The chief risk following splenectomy is overwhelming bacterial infection, or postsplenectomy sepsis. This vulnerability results from the body’s decreased ability to clear bacteria from the blood, and lowered levels of a protein in blood plasma that helps to fight viruses (immunoglobulin M). The risk of dying from infection after splenectomy is highest in children, especially in the first two years after surgery. The risk of postsplenectomy sepsis can be reduced by vaccinations before the operation. Some doctors also recommend a two-year course of penicillin following splenectomy or long-term treatment with ampicillin.
International patient can avail an excellent splenectomy in India and enjoy our best services, hospitality and expert doctors for the splenectomy in India. Healthy Weight Loss at Chiva-Som International Health Resort, Thailand
Posted by: | CommentsMany of us would like to lose some weight. We would look and feel better, and it’s well documented that being the optimum weight has significant health benefits. The problem is, it’s not easy, either to lose the weight or to maintain the loss. But there are measures that can help. The key is organisation and understanding the processes involved.
Chiva-Som’s approach to weight management involves a multi-faceted programme designed to achieve positive changes to body shape with lasting results.
You can only lose weight by eating fewer calories, burning more calories, or, best of all, through a combination of the two. Because each person is different, the first step is a personal consultation with our naturopaths, who assess your individual dietary profile. They will determine your optimum calorie intake and can recommend appropriate supplements or complementary herbal formulas.
We then establish your body composition and degree of flexibility, strength, and cardio-endurance. This comprehensive physical analysis and fitness assessment ascertains which exercises will benefit you most as an individual.
Healthy, long term weight loss is achieved by losing body fat and gaining muscle tissue through exercise. Because muscle is very metabolically active, it burns calories throughout the day. This combination means your total weight drops considerably and you’re also protected from regaining it in the future.
Additional issues such as stress, food craving and emotional eating can also be a barrier to long term weight management. Chiva-Som’s custom-made programmes can help you overcome these through annexed treatments like EFT, acupuncture or hypnotherapy.
It sounds easy. And it can be, if you have the right weight management structure in place to help you. It’s certainly worth the effort: your body will re-shape, becoming toned and tight, and your health will improve – two things that significantly increase levels of happiness and self-esteem.

How Much Cardio Is Needed To Burn Fat?
Posted by: | Comments
The goal for anyone who wants to lose fat is to achieve maximum fat burning in the shortest time possible. It is very important to choose or create the right training program that is the most effective. There are a lot of discussions and arguments about what is more effective: long duration and low intensity workouts or high intensity workouts. This can be very confusing for people. A personal trainer in one gym suggests low intensity workouts and if you go to a different gym then a personal trainer there may suggest high intensity workouts.
So how much cardio is needed to burn fat?
As it is with so many other things, both sides have some truth in them. The low intensity aerobic exercise proponents say that this method is more effective in burning body fat because if your heart rate gets out of the target heart rate, you stop burning fat for fuel and start using carbohydrates for fuel. That is why so many experts promote this method.
But the problem with this method is that if your exercise is low in intensity, then you just do not burn enough calories. If you don’t burn enough calories then you will not lose fat. It is better to use more intense exercises in your workouts because they burn more calories. High intensity aerobic exercise can use as much as 65% of the body’s energy needs in the form of carbohydrate. Burning calories is more important than what you use for fuel. The harder you work out the more calories you burn.
But high intensity exercises are only effective if you can maintain it long enough to burn more calories then with low intensity. To burn calories effectively your workout has to last from 25-60 minutes. If you do a very high intensity workout but you it only lasts for 15 minutes then it is not effective. The trick is to find the right tempo. The most effective method to burn calories is a relatively high intensity for 30 minutes or so. The only way to find out what is the most effective zone for you, is to find it out yourself. There is no magic number. Trial and error!

Belly Fat Diets – the Magical Solution?
Posted by: | Comments
Have you heard that there are foods and special diets that are specially designed to help you get rid of your belly fat? There is something called the Flat Belly Diet that has been endorsed by the writers at Prevention magazine. The diet is promoted as a way to take as many inches off of your waistline as you want. There are also a variety of diets making the rounds right now that claim they can get rid of your stomach fat without you having to do a single minute of exercise. Are these diets the real deal? Here is what we have found out about belly fat diets:
The best way to get rid of stomach fat is to eat a healthy diet and maintain a regular exercise routine. You will want to work all of your muscle systems, not just your abdominal region. You know that this is true, but isn’t there any truth to the diets that claim to get rid of belly fat?
To understand why these diets aren’t what they claim to be, you need to understand how fat works in your body. Fat cells cannot be lost without surgery. Even people who are in model shape have plenty of fat cells in their bodies. Fat cells are cells that stretch and constrict depending on how much exercise you get and what you eat. The only way to lose a fat cell is to have it surgically removed. What’s more, your body stores fat in different ways–focusing on a single area of your body won’t get rid of that area’s fat. It will simply relocate the fat to somewhere else!
The “Belly Fat Diet” promoted by Prevention Magazine is famous because it promotes the ingestion of monosaturated fat. Followers of this diet plan are instructed to add some source of monosaturated fat to every meal they eat. Monosaturated fats can be found in, among other things, soybeans, seeds, nuts, olives and dark chocolate. The person who developed the diet claims that monosaturated fat focuses specifically on the fat that is stored in the belly area. The author of the diet encourages exercise, but emphasizes that exercise is not required to make the diet successful.
Recently, MSNBC released an article that promises readers that there are no foods that will actively attack single areas of body fat. Belly fat is the same as fat located in other areas of the human body. The article maintains that genetics has more to do with where your body stores fat than anything you could eat.
Here is the simple truth: if you cut your calorie intake and burn more calories than you take in, you will lose weight! To work specifically on the fat that is stored in your belly, you can add some extra abdominal exercises to your regular workout routine. There are no magical belly fat diets that will whisk away the fat cells stored in your belly. To truly lose your stomach fat you need to eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly!

Top Four Myths of a Low Cholesterol Low Fat Diet
Posted by: | Comments
So you just found out you have high cholesterol and have been told to start a low cholesterol low fat diet immediately. But what does this mean? Should you eliminate all high cholesterol foods or eliminate all fats? No and no. Read on to find out about the most common myths of a low cholesterol low fat diet.
Myth #1 of a low cholesterol low fat diet
Focus on cholesterol content
Most people think that in order to lower cholesterol, they need to lower cholesterol intake. Dietary cholesterol (the cholesterol you consume) has nothing to do with your serum cholesterol. The two main culprits that raise serum cholesterol are saturated fat and trans fat. Saturated fat is high in foods such as fatty cuts of meat, bacon and sausage and solid fat sources such as butter and lard. Trans fat is found in many packaged products including but not limited to ramen noodles, biscuit mix, cookies and especially in fast food.
Myth #2 of a low cholesterol low fat diet
Eliminate all foods high in fat
Whether or not fat is okay on a low cholesterol low fat diet is really dependent upon the type of fat. While food high in saturated fat or trans fat are a no-no, foods high in polyunsaturated fats are helpful in lowering LDL (bad cholesterol) and raising HDL (good cholesterol). Some great sources are nuts and seeds, avocados, olive oil and the omega-3 fatty acid containing fish such as wild-caught salmon and mackerel.
Myth #3 of a low cholesterol low fat diet
Drink red wine to lower cholesterol
Yes and no. While studies show that drinking a glass of red wine may improve cardiovascular disease risk factor in women, drinking too much alcohol will raise triglyceride levels which are another harmful component of total cholesterol. The best advice is to have a glass now and again if you enjoy it, but not to think of it as a cure all for your cholesterol.
Myth #4 of a low cholesterol low fat diet
Fat and cholesterol are the only components of my diet I need to be concerned about to lower my cholesterol.
Absolutely false! There are many other significant factors in a diet that will help lower your cholesterol. First and foremost, get plenty of fiber from a variety of sources such as fruits, veggies and whole grain foods. In addition, consuming fruits and veggies (especially the veggies) will provide your body with a lot of other nutrients in the form of vitamins and minerals that are important for overall health.
Ultimately, when thinking about a low cholesterol low fat diet, you need to be thinking of your overall health and diet and not focusing primarily on cholesterol and fat content. By following the basic recommendations of the American Dietetic Association or another healthful diet such as that which I cover in my Healthy Grocery Store Tour (www.healthygrocerystoretour.com), you will be on the path to not only lower cholesterol levels, but a healthier lifestyle that benefits you more than a low cholesterol low fat diet.

How can I lose my excess fat? Any diets or weight loss methods?
I am a tall female 6'0". I have been on the birth control depo shot for 2 almost 3 years now. Last summer around this time I was very skinny. I weighed 140 pounds, I have gained about 20 to 25 pounds in the past year. Never in my life have I thought that I was over weight, now at this time in my life I think that I am. I know for my height I will weigh more than most. I have been through a lot of stress with work, home and my personal life. My hair is also stressed…(loosing some hair). I am looking for some kind of diet method to help me lose my excess fat. I would love to weigh 140 pounds again. Have there been any diets/pills to help you lose weight? I am a very busy person, I don't have the extra time to go to the gym or go work out. When I get the time I try to go to the gym or go on walks/runs. I am looking for a diet that will help me not eat so much, eat smaller portions, and not be so hungry? Please Help!!!

Burn Fats Faster In 6 Easy Steps
Posted by: | Comments
We all know that metabolism refers to the way our body uses the calories from the food we eat and breaks them into energy. Probably, you may also know that our metabolic rate decreases with age at about 5-10 percent every decade. However, do you know that you can keep your metabolism at optimal levels for several decades? By keeping your metabolism at an optimal level, you will be able to burn fat faster and obtain a leaner body.
Here are 6 proven steps to get you started.
1. Interval Training
Your metabolism usually returns to its normal state soon after a moderate aerobic workout. To help your body burn more calories long after your workout, you can add interval training to your routine. Interval training is where you add bursts of high intensity moves into your workout. For example, if your current routine is jogging, add a 30 seconds sprint every 5 minutes. If you are on the treadmill, add 1 minute incline every 5 minutes. Research has shown that high intensity interval training burns more fats compared to consistent aerobic exercise.
2. Have Your Breakfast
To succeed in weight loss, you need to eat your breakfast. Studies show that your metabolic rate slows as you sleep and the process of digestion can rev it up again. Again, remember that if your metabolic rate is high, you have a better chance against the fats. Of course, you should have a healthy and balanced breakfast while you are at it.
3. Lift Weights
Believe it or not, weight training can help burn your calories fast. This is because an increase in muscle tissue causes a corresponding increase in our metabolic rate. Adding weight training to your cardio routine will boost your metabolism as a result of muscle growth.
4.Drink Water
Drinking water can help increase your body calories burning capability. When your body is dehydrated, your body’s ability to burn calories decrease by 2 percent each day. One study even found that metabolic rate can increase by 30 percent after drinking half a litre of water.
5. Keep That Body Moving
If you are able to, divide your workout into 2 20-minute sessions. Your metabolism will probably rev up for an hour after each workout. This means that you will burn more calories than if you had just one session. If your schedule does not allow, go for 5 minutes of activity instead such as climbing stairs or brisk walking. A 5-minute walk every hour can mean an extra 200 calories burned each day.
6. Get Enough Sleep
Without getting enough sleep, your body may lack the energy to do its normal everyday functions and this includes calories burning. In addition, many people who lose sleep may feel hungry despite having enough food intake. This could be due to the fact that sleep loss has been shown to affect the release of cortisol, a hormone that regulates appetite. So if you can, get 6 to 8 hours of sleep every night.
As you can see, these 6 steps are not difficult to implement. Apply them in your daily life and you can expect more energy and a more beautiful body in you.

Help answer the question
Is it possible to burn fat before it gets stored in the body?
I dont know if i worded the question correctly.
Lets say I eat a slice of pizza and then a half hour later I swim laps. Is it possible to burn off the fat/calories that I ate in the pizza before they have time to get processed through the body? Or is the fat that is burned during exercise stored fat?
It would make sense to me that after burning 'new fat' (the fat from the slice of pizza) that after that new fat is burned, THEN stored fat begins being burned off. Is that how it works?

But Why is My Diet not Working
Posted by: | Comments
Jennifer, a middle-aged single mother with one six-year-old daughter, has been skipping sweets for a few weeks now. She’s also become a stickler for portion control. She feels as if she’s eating less than ever, and she’s been diligently exercising for an hour at a time at least four days a week. Yet, she hasn’t lost a single pound. The question is, “Why?”
This is a dilemma which affects dieters the world over. They think they are taking the steps necessary to lose weight, but nothing seems to be happening. In essence, they are trapped in a dieting rut and they don’t know how to free themselves. As a result, they become frustrated and depressed and may then engage in binge eating.
One of the problems with diets is that they are often standardized. As a result, they don’t take into consideration your individual physiology and metabolism. They provide a cookie-cutter approach to weight loss–an approach which may not work in your individual case. As a result, an increasing number of people are turning to dieticians to formulate a person weight loss strategy for them. This process has been made easier through the Internet, where you can correspond with a dietician any time of the day or night via e-mail. The dietician can also act as your personal coach, helping you through your dieting dilemmas.
Another reason that you may be failing at your diet is because of a lack of support. You may have family members who can eat whatever they want and seemingly not gain a pound. As a result, they may fill your refrigerator with junk food, leading you into temptation. Also, you may feel as if you have no one to turn to in order to discuss your weight problems. In order to solve this problem, many individuals look to psychotherapists to help them with their food-related issues. This can be particularly important if an individual has turned to purging in an effort to combat their weight problems. Bulimia is a serious disease which must be treated in order to ensure the good health of the patient. Thankfully, there are a number of treatment programs throughout the U.S. specifically focusing on bulimia.
Yet another reason for diet failure is hidden calories. You may literally be consuming calories and not even realize it. For instance, the frappucinos that are so popular today are loaded with calories–as many as 600 in a single serving! You may also be indulging in sugary sodas–another source of extra calories. By taking a few simple steps, such as eliminating the exotic coffee drinks from your diet and substituting skim milk for whole milk, you may be able to eliminate the hidden calories that are denying you dieting success.
Lack of consistency can also be a diet-killer. You might go on a diet for a while, then quit before you’ve made any measurable progress. It’s only natural to want to see quick results. The problem is that healthy weight lose involves loseing only a couple of pounds a week. That means you’ll have to stay on your diet for months before you see appreciable weight loss. Discouraging? It can be, but if you keep a positive attitude you can achieve your ideal weight.
You may also be more successful in your dieting if you consider it to be a lifestyle change. Therefore, your diet becomes a meal plan for life. This means that you must change the way you look at food. It is designed to be fuel for your body, and nothing more. As a result, you should not turn to food to make you feel better or to provide you with a sense of comfort. A lifestyle change implies commitment; it means that you are prepared to follow the plan for the long haul. If you feel as if you cannot be on your diet for any appreciable length of time, perhaps it’s time to consider a different diet. Your aim ultimately should be not simply to lose weight, but to become healthier. A fad diet will not allow you to reach that milestone. Therefore, you must choose your diet carefully.

Low Cholesterol Diet – Decrease Risk of Heart Diseases
Posted by: | Comments
What is Cholesterol?
Cholesterol is a fatty wax lipid that can be found in the cell membranes of humans and animals.
Cholesterol is a tricky little devil, because if it gets out of hand you could have a serious health risk, including heart attack and other potentially fatal conditions. That is why it is so important to have a low cholesterol diet, because it reduces your risk of having a heart attack or stroke. High cholesterol is something you need to avoid. Are avocados bad to eat when on a low cholesterol diet?
I am following a low cholesterol diet and really love avocadas, but my food list says I can't eat them. Are they really that bad for people with high cholesterol? I don't mind giving up the meat and sugar, but not the avocados.
